About
Who we are
Since banding together in 2004 as the four-member Visitacion Valley History Project (VVHP), community residents Cynthia Cox, Edie Epps, Russel Morine, and Betty Parshall have dedicated their efforts to collecting and preserving the history and stories of the neighborhood’s residents and workers, past and present. In addition to our ongoing efforts to gather and share oral histories and donated memories,” the VVHP has:
Authored the Arcadia Images of America book about Visitacion Valley
Made a significant donation to our new branch library of funds raised through the sale of our Arcadia book and by holding periodic used book sales
Participated in the production of “Circle of Elders,” a video sharing the stories of nine Valley seniors of varying ethnicities and backgrounds
Made presentations to the major historical associations of San Francisco (and Daly City/Colma), as well as offered programs tailored for local residents
Led public and private walking tours of the Visitacion Valley neighborhood
Taken part in San Francisco History Days events at the Old Mint
Collaborated with other neighborhood history-oriented groups throughout the city.
